Enjoy Thunder on the Big Screens

With the current weather forecast calling for RAIN, COLD TEMPS & WIND, why not enjoy Thunder Over Louisville on the Big Screen TV’s in the warm and cozy atmosphere at Best Vineyards while sipping a spicy Bloody Mary or a refreshing Mango Pina Colada?
Grab a picnic basket and spend the day with us.  We’ll also have a selection of Cheese Trays available this weekend.

SPECIAL NOTE:  It is with great sadness that we are passing along the information about the Huntingburg Garden Gate Art & Jazz Festival.  The event organizers have painstakingly weighted the pros and cons of having the event this weekend.  Because this is an outdoor event, they have decided to cancelled due to the rain, colder temps and potential strong wind gusts.  They will reconvene next week and determine if an alternate date for the event will be considered.  As we find out more information, we will pass it along to you. **** UPDATE – The Garden Gate Art & Jazz Festival’s Wine Garden has been rescheduled for July 15. Best Vineyards will be there. We hope you will too.

A Salute to Spring – via Cheese, Wine, Spirits, & Walk

Big happenings at the winery this weekend.  This is the official “Toast to Spring” for the Indiana Uplands Wine Trail.  All visitors to the winery this Saturday (4-8) and Sunday (4-9) can sample a selection of delectable cheese with their wine tasting.  The winery will have 3 savory cheeses: a white cheese with Roasted Red Pepper with Black Peppercorns, an Applewood Smoked Cheddar with Sea Salt, and a spicy Chipotle with Garlic.  There will also be a Wild Blueberry & Strawberry Goat Cheese to round out the tastings.  Savory & Graham crackers will be available.

The winery will also be presenting our first release of our estate grown and bottled Blackberry wine.  Last year presented a bountiful crop of blackberries.  Those gorgeous little gems were fermented, pressed, sweetened, filtered and bottled.  Many of you have asked for a blackberry wine over the last few years.  Stop in and sample some this weekend.

In the distillery, we would like to welcome Limoncello to the distilled spirits list. Copious amounts of fresh lemon zest were blended with grain spirits produced in Harrison County’s first “legal” distillery then sweetened to produce a smooth, refreshing liqueur with an intense Lemon flavor.  Perfect sipped chilled on its own, shaken into cocktails or mixed into sparkling water.

Can’t make it to the winery on Saturday but you’re going to be in the Corydon area?  Stop by our booth in BR Graphix on Saturday  from 2-7pm as we participate in the 2nd Annual Spring Wine Walk presented by the Downtown Corydon Merchants.  The weather is going to be near 70 and sunny.  A perfect day to stroll around Corydon and enjoy  a wonderful spring afternoon.

Festival time has arrived. Spring can’t be too far off.

Join us Saturday at the D’vine Wine & Beer Fest in Columbus, Indiana for the first wine festival of the 2017 season.  We’ll be debuting our new distilled spirits.  The spirits will include Vodka, a Maple Syrup Liqueur and a Peach Moonshine.

Best Vineyards will also be at the Sugarbush Festival in Salem, IN.  This is a fantastic little festival celebrating all things Maple and local artisans.  In the past, we have produced a Maple Syrup wine but this year we decided to branch out and go for a liqueur featuring our distilled spirits and the Sugarbush Maple Syrup.  This is a 100% Indiana grown and produced product.

The Chocolate Recipes have been POSTED!!

Sorry for the delay everyone.  Life has been extremely busy lately.  With the chocolate weekends, preparing cocktails on Saturdays & Sundays, and getting ready for the upcoming festival season, I have been remiss in getting the recipes posted.  BUT, I have remedied that situation this morning.  2017 Chocolate Lovers Weekend Recipes  Click the link to find all the chocolate recipes for the Chocolate Lovers Weekend.  (The recipes for the peanut butter bar will be posted separately in the coming week.)  In addition to the chocolate recipes, watch for our cocktail recipes debuting Best Distillery Vodka, Best Distillery Peach Moonshine and our very own in-house vermouth creation (featuring Crystal Flame.)  We’ll have the recipes for Vermouth, our Martini, our Chocolate-Raspberry Martini, the Fiesta cocktail, the Mule and the awesome Bloody Mary posted in the next week or so.

The Still has arrived!!!

pb020049The slow boat from China finally docked in Mobile, AL.  This gorgeous piece of equipment was loaded onto a flatbed truck from customs and made its way to the new Best Vineyards Distillery building on November 1st.  The crew from Artisan Still Design took a few days to uncrate the beauty and to get her installed.  The big Orange Boiler was fired up on November 9th and requires a few tweaks before starting mass production.  The only mechanical things we are still waiting on are completion of the plumbing, a few minor electrical hookups, and installation of the control system for the still.  Once those are in completed, we just have to wait for the Indiana ATC inspection and for them to grant us our distillery permit.  Things are slowly coming together.  Stop by any Saturday or Sunday between now and January 1st for a free tour of our new production facility.  (Sorry, tours are not available during the week.)

Here are a few other pictures we have collected during the installation process.

1st Annual Southern Indiana Bacon & Blues Festival is a HUGE Success!!

Saturday, October 1, 2016 dawned with a light drizzle falling and a slight chill in the air.  Event organizers were biting their fingernails worried no one would show.  But, as the clock ticked it’s way toward 12 noon, cars, trucks, and vans started rolling down the drive.  And when the sun popped out around 1pm, everyone was ecstatic.  The music was fantastic.  By 4pm, the wine slushies were flowing, the scent of bacon permeated the air and the crowd was ready to SAVE THE BACON as 22 hand decorated piggy banks were auctioned off to the highest bidder.  There was a pot bellied still pig, a couple biker pigs, a bicentennial pig, a couple patriotic pigs, a blue pig, a Batman pig, and a princess pig, just to name a few.  But the top bid went to the red and white IU pig for an astounding $365.

Sunday started off with the Distiller’s Breakfast in the new Distillery building for all of the Boss Hog sponsors.  Shortly after the breakfast the air was once again scented with bacon (thanks in part to the Elizabeth Lion’s Club frying up bacon for their BLT’s) and the Bacon Princess (with Pig Hat) was out on the lawn selling her little BLT’s  (ironic since the princess is a vegetarian).  Festival goers and vendors all had a great time and everyone is looking forward to next year.  Visit the Elizabeth Lion’s Club’s facebook page for a plethora of pictures.  A few of the pic’s we took are below.
