The Troubadours are coming!!

Join us for an afternoon of awesome folk music.  Aim Me and Renee’s sound has been described to be

“Harmonies as smooth as Kentucky Bourbon and soft as Spanish Moss…”

What better way to spend a relaxing Saturday afternoon.    This is a rain or shine event.  In the event of rain, the concert will be moved in doors.

We will also have samples of our Mango Pina Colada slushies and a Sweet Red Wine slushie for those over 21.

Melody Resurrection – In Concert – Saturday, July 26, 4-8pm

Melody_Ressurection_photoCome join us for Louisville’s rock and blues band, Melody Resurrection, featuring rock and blues from the 50’s through the 70’s including authentic covers of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and various artists.  As always, our concerts are free and everyone is welcome.  We do have cheese, crackers and chocolates but feel free to bring whatever food you’d like to go with one of our delicious wines!  Per State & Federal law, no other alcoholic beverages permitted.

Timing is also running out for those who wish to purchase tickets for this year’s premiere wine event of the summer, Uncork the Uplands.  This year the entire event will be held at Oliver’s beautiful Creekbend Vineyards in Elletsville, IN on August 2nd.  Attendees will have the opportunity to sample over 60 different hand-crafted Indiana wines, enjoy guided vineyard tours throughout the afternoon, listen to some awesome jazz tunes by Art Four Sale, etc.

Three Cheers for Chardonel

Newburgh 2014 Dry White Chardonel Bronze 2Our 2010 vintage of Chardonel took home this awesome Bronze medal for Dry White Wine during People’s Choice awards at the Newburgh Wine, Art & Jazz Festival on Saturday, May 17.  Hip, hip, hooray!!!  Stop by the winery today and try a complimentary sample of this crisp white wine.  It pairs perfectly with Havarti cheese or seafood.

Can’t make it to the winery?  Visit us at one of the upcoming festivals we are participating in such as Southern Indiana Uncorked (May 24th in Corydon, IN), Jane’s Saddlebags (May 31 & June 1 in Union, KY) and Vintage Indiana (June 7th in Indianapolis, IN).

Sip a little wine and learn about tending to the Grape

Cruise around the Uplands Wine Trail this Mother’s Day weekend and learn about how to prune a grapevine, the importance of filtration, the history of wine in Indiana,  and a variety of other aspects that go into making a great wine.   At Best Vineyards you’ll take a trip to the vineyard and learn about when and how to prune your vines.  See first hand how this frigid winter affected our vines and how we hope to overcome the setbacks.  We will also be offering a small selection of cheeses and suggest what wine to pair with it.  For a complete list of topics that will be discussed this weekend, go to http://www.indianauplands.com/events/ for more details.

And, Best Vineyards will be making a return this Saturday to the New Albany Farmers Market from 8-1pm.  The Market is located at the corner of Bank and Market and will run every Saturday thru the end of October.  Be sure to stop in for a bottle of our Bread Dipping Spice mix or for a bottle of your favorite wine.

And the winner is . . . .

2014-ShirtArt_3The entries were gathered, the designs reviewed and an overall winner was chosen after much debate.  Congratulations go out to Dustin H. of New Albany for submitting the winning design during our 2014 T-shirt design contest.  Dustin will receive a $75 cash prize plus 2 t-shirts for his artistic efforts.  These gorgeous t-shirts will go on sale June 7th at the Vintage Indiana wine festival in Indianapolis.  We’ll be posting photos of the actual screen printed shirts once they are available.

UPDATE:  Art work has been approved.  T-shirt colors have been selected and everything has gone to the screen printer.   It won’t be long now.

T-Shirt Design Contest ends April 6th

Time is quickly running out on our 4th Bi-Annual T-Shirt Design contest.2014 t-shirt entry form  Send those entries in today.   We’re looking for our next show-stopping t-shirt design.  Do you have ideas, a saying or other suggestions?  We would love to hear from you.  Designs do not have to be perfect.  We will send out the winning entry to a graphics artist to be cleaned up and digitized before sending it to the screen printer.  But there are limitations on the screen printing.  The maximum screen printing area is 16″ vertical (top to bottom) and 14″ horizontal (left to right).  So, designs going from one shoulder down to the bottom of the t-shirt are not possible.   Pictures of the past winning designs can be found on the “Events” link above.

The contest is open to persons of all ages.  The winning design will receive 2 T-shirts and a $75 cash prize*.  All entries must be received by 7pm on Sunday, April 6th.  The winning design will be announced on May 5th.  The T-shirts themselves will go on sale June 7th at Vintage Indiana in Indianapolis’s Military Park.   (* see entry form for more details about cash prize.)
